
Alexandre Aleixo
PhD in Zoology
Alexandre Aleixo holds a PhD in Zoology from Louisiana State University, a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), and a livre-docência (habilitation) in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Helsinki. He teaches in graduate programs at the Emílio Goeldi Museum of Pará (MPEG) and the Federal University of Pará (UFPA). As a leader of the Environmental Genomics group at ITV DS, he works in zoology and animal genetics, with an emphasis on biogeography, evolution, molecular systematics, and taxonomy of Neotropical vertebrates, and has published more than 350 scientific papers.
