Vidal Félix Navarro Torres
Vidal Navarro Torres is a Doctor of Mine Engineering, Mining (2004) at the current University of Lisbon (IST-UL), has a Post-Doctorate in Geotechnics and Sustainable Development of Underground Environment (2004-2007); Post-Doctorate in Geotechnics in Underground Mining and Tunnels (2008-2009) from IST-UL. He was a University Professor at Universities of Peru and Portugal (1985 - 2009), Vice-President of the CERENA Geotechnical Center of IST-UL (2004-2011), Researcher and Guest Professor at IST-UTL (2009-2011). He has also been a Visiting Professor at the University of Wollongong in Australia (2002) and at the University of Nottingham in England (2009), Professor at the Federal University of Goiás (2012-2014), Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2014-2015), is a Professor of Master's Degree in Automation in the Mining discipline at Federal University of Ouro Preto/ITV (2016 to date), a Professor of Professional Master's Degree in Mineral Technology at ITV/ISPT Mozambique (2016 to date), and a Professor and Coordinator of the Specialization Course in Open-Pit Mining at ITV. Since February 2015, he has been a Full Researcher of Mining at the Vale Institute of Technology (Ouro Preto). He has professional experience in Mine Engineering and has worked for several years as an engineer and consultant in mining, geotechnical projects, and tunnels in Peru, Portugal, Brazil and Africa. Lately, he has been involved in researches related to mining, geotechnical and mining sustainability projects, and has coordinated the Ibero-American research project called "Underground Environment and Sustainability" MASyS (2010-2013), made up of 11 countries and financed by the Ibero-American Program of Science and Technology for Development (CYTED), and coordinated from Portugal the European Project called Underground Coal Gasification & CO2 Storage (2010-2012), made up of 5 European countries (Germany, Bulgaria, Greece, England, and Portugal), financed by the Research Fund for Coal & Steel of the European Union. Vidal Navarro Torres participated on the board of 22 graduate, master, and doctoral studies, and, as an author and editor, published 10 books, 3 book chapters, 3 university manuals, 16 articles in international scientific journals and 85 articles in international events in Mine Engineering. He also executed and prepared 47 consulting reports and organized 33 national and international technical-scientific events.
