Guilherme Oliveira is a biologist with a major from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He did his doctorate course at Texas A&M University and was a Senior Researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, René Rachou Institute. He is a researcher 1D at CNPq and develops his research in the area of structural and functional genomic studies of eukaryotes and prokaryotes. He coordinated research projects funded by Brazilian, American and European agencies. He organized several events and workshops in the areas of research in schistosomiasis, bioinformatics, genomics, and metagenomics. He works as a lecturer of postgraduate studies in Health Sciences (FIOCRUZ), Genetics and Bioinformatics (UFMG) and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources in Tropical Regions (ITV-DS). He is a member of the editorial body of national and international peer-reviewed journals and acts as a reviewer for several high impact journals and national and international research agencies. He was President of the Brazilian Association of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology and member of the board of directors of the International Society for Computational Biology.
He is currently a Full Researcher of the research line "Environmental Genomics" in ITV Sustainable Development.
