Summary: The objective of this research is to analyze the socioeconomic characteristics of rural and urban communities located in the zone of influence of the EFC. Using statistical techniques to compare the socioeconomic variables, strictly as they relate to the material survival conditions of these populations, from micro-scale primary data obtained from surveys, which were applied to households located in the communities along the Railroad. The results show that the rural and urban communities located in the zone of influence of the railroad have specific characteristics socioeconomic that differ from rural to urban communities, such as the significant movement of informal income; social organization and ownership private transportation.
