Avaliação do uso de diferentes tipos de polímeros supressores de pó no controle de emissões atmosféricas durante o transporte de minério de ferro na EFVM – Estrada De Ferro Vitória A Minas

Summary: The objective of this work is to evaluate the efficiency of various dust suppressor products on the market by conducting simulation of ore particle entrainment by testing the equipment known as the VALE Wind Tunnel, using a miniature train wagon, wind simulator, vibration and sunlight. For the development of the research, a solution of 100g of dust suppressor polymer was prepared, being sprayed on the ore load cell of the miniature car. It was evaluated the appearance of the pile of ore formed in the wagon, the loss of mass and humidity after 6 h of the beginning of the test. Among the evaluated polymers it was verified that the polymer produced by the chemical recycling process of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), developed through a research carried out by VALE in partnership with Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), (Patent: BR 10 2014 029870-3 end BR 10 2015 027113-1), was the one that presented the best cost-benefit. It has proved to be a product of immense potential, which can generate great savings for the company, since it can contribute to the sustainable destination of part of the plastic residue generated at the Tubarão Complex in Vitória, ES and other VALE units. In addition, it can contribute to the reduction of the atmospheric emissions generated by the transport of iron ore in the Estrada de Ferro Vitória a Minas (EFVM).
