Summary: Initially, High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR) was successfully introduced for briquetting and grinding for cement applications. Nowadays, is emerging as an importante comminution technology in ore processing purposes due to their superior efficiency compared to conventional methods (ball mills, rod mills). In the pelletizing process , at Vale, HPGR technology is applied in regrinding of iron ore with the main emphasis of increase the specific surface área of particles to the required value for the formation of pellets.
