The visits program is part of the “Vale Conhecer” project, that opens the research institute door. Besides the schools from the metropolitan region in Belém, schools from other cities will also participate, especially those where Vale has operations, like Marabá, Parauapebas, Canaã dos Carajás e Ourilândia do Norte, located on the southeast of Pará.
During the visits, the students watch presentations about the institute and visit its laboratories. The welcome is given by ITV Scientific Director, José Oswaldo Siqueira, and mentions the importance of mining activity to society, through the process of wealth extraction and the transformation of goods and products that are fundamental to life.
Siqueira commented that the Institute contributes to the students’ development, besides presenting knowledge about the mineral chain developed in the State of Para. “Mining generates wealth and encourages the development of the State, including education”, the director explained.
