Environmental Genomics

The research intends to study biodiversity with a molecular approach. It aims to identify plants and animals with the massive use of DNA barcode technology, and more deeply with studies of genomic nature. It studies the evolutionary mechanisms and the genetic diversity of species. The study of microorganisms as an important part of the environment is done through free methods of cultivation with a metagenomic approach and by the isolation of species with functions of interest. When isolated, they are studied for a more detailed understanding of their role in the environment and for the development of bioremediation or bioleaching tools.
